September cooking culminated in Pizza Day. The 4-6 grade classes started the month making pesto from the "pizza garden" that included basil, tomatoes and green and red peppers they planted in the Spring. The following week they made the tomato sauce. Now is the fun part - making the dough and putting it all together into one delicious treat - their own homegrown, homemade pizza! What a great example of the Garden of Bliss Seed-to-Table experience.
A perfect day for harvesting our potato crop. With the help of our 1st-3rd grade girls and boys, we dug all four beds of buds - fingerling, red and white potatoes. Later this year, we will create something delicious in the kitchen! The girls loved the small cute potatoes. The boys, on the other hand, seemed focused on who could dig up the biggest and the most!
